My Top Favorite Manga

Without I realize, my blog had gotten more than 50.000 views. Banzai! To commemorate this, as usual, I intend to write something personal. And this time I want to write about my favorite manga of all time. As you know, I'm an avid reader of manga and I've collected several series which crowded about 4 of my bookshelves. Do you remember a while ago when I wrote about about Nintendo's Wii Karaoke U service adding Japanese songs to its already extensive portfolio of tracks? Well, today the European branch of the Kyoto-based company revealed that this library is ever growing, with 11 new songs added today - with nine of them having previously been used in anime, with the most notable from this batch being Shonen Jump franchises Naruto Shippuden and Bleach. I can't seem to focus on studying idk why. Today has been a day of revelation like I finally realized something. And idk if I still feel the same anymore cause tbh it has been a really really long time since and so far nothing has happened yet. Like idk I don't like it when ppl do things and expect something in return and when they expect you to do something that they don't. It just doesn't make sense. And I'm just really upset and shocked that even after knowing me for so long and knowing how horrible of an emotion expresser I am, I still get blamed for something that I didn't even do. I mean like its natural for ppl to wanna feel appreciated but what do you expect me to do seriously I've said my thanks and was happy the entire day and texted about how thankful and happy I was alr what else do you want me to do? I didn't even ask for this thing yet you use it against me EVERY SINGLE TIME we quarrel whether it's related or not. Saying stuff like 'you're damn ungrateful' in a harsh way and whatnot when you know I suck at showing or saying how I really feel and when I've alr shown my appreciation in any way I can. I didn't ask for this and neither do I deserve the after treatment. If I knew that it was gonna be this way I would have rather celebrated my 18th alone. Why are you even blaming me for the choices you make seriously



Anyway unhappy stuff aside I'm kinda addicted to Korean dramas recently. Actually it's just dramas that lee min ho acts in HAHA but c'mon la after watching the heirs who wouldn't wanna see more of him right I'm sure I'm not the only one trololol~ I've been suppressing the urge to watch city hunter for a week now and I think it's super applaudable cause he looks damn hot in that show??? Like omg it's out of this world sia. Maybe it's just the kind of hair that I like but still it's an action series and you know with all the fighting and shit it just makes ppl look wayyyyyyy hotter and cooler. And I plan to watch personal taste and faith too HAHA one of (or maybe the only) reason why I'm looking forward to the hols!! Don't ask me why I only know about those dramas now cause I was never ever a fan of such shows and have been devoted to anime my entire life but I guess it's time for a change now hehehehOh and if I forgot to mention ep 19 and 20 of the heirs will be out on 11 and 12 dec HAHA do you see how my addiction is getting in the way of getting straight A's nowwww I mean like wtf of all days why must it be the day when I HAVE TO study for hpi?? But thn again judging from how long I've resisted city hunter I think I can hold it off for a few more days (I hope).

I've spent much sleepless nights and days on the couch potato. The only difference is:I was lying on the bed hehe. And thank god for such an invention called smartphones (with data), life is always entertaining for DramaAddicts like me.

For example: I was out with my family to Orchard last weekend, getting Christmas gifts. And while we were waiting to dine, I took out my phone. That distracted me from dying of starvation. When my mom was trying on clothes, I was watching City Hunters (I missed the whole series on TV + it was only available on the app now!) Anyway I wasn't a LeeMinHo-er so that didn't bother me at all. The drama just killed my boredom.

Blast Off into 2014 at the Same Time as Japan with Space Dandy on Animax Asia

Animax, Asia's first channel specializing in anime programming, is set to usher in 2014 with the brand new blockbuster anime TV series Space Dandy in January! As Animax's latest simulcast title, the fun, tongue-in-cheek and over-the-top show will debut across Asia as it airs in Japan!



Space Dandy is set to premiere on 5 January, airing on Sundays at 10pm (SG, MY, HK, PH, TW) / 9pm (JKT, TH) in a same-time-as-Japan simulcast, first and exclusively on Animax. In addition, Space Dandy will debut in India on the same day, at local primetime 10pm (IST) also on Animax.

It's gotten really bad, this addiction of mine. I think this is the most number of dramas that I've ever attempted to watch simultaneously. By simultaneously, I don't mean I have 5 different screens simultaneously airing 5 different dramas. But If I could do that and still completely understand what I'm watching, I would. That would cut down on my drama-watching time significantly.



Aside from watching currently airing dramas, I'm also watching an older drama that has been on my to-watch list for so long. Also, I'm revisiting a favorite from last year. So without further ado, here are the dramas that are currently taking up most of my time.

Give Up The Trouble & Move On

That's the question in the Anime series, 'Valvrave The Liberator' where the pilot needs to answer that question for the robot to be in control. Giving up humanity to become a vampire could be a twisted result. But in reality, it's time to give up the troubles of the past to open up for a brighter future. I told to myself once, i would resign being a human, not to be a vampire, because there's no vampires in reality i suppose, i would rather be either an adventurer, a mission agent or a brave one.

For the past 6 years, i just realized that life is getting started to suck a little. I remember back last September that my little sister told me that i should resign my thoughts of everything Sandara Park for my reconnection to support the DLSU Green Archers, it was like back in 2007, but during that time, it's for my support for the ADMU Blue Eagles. At the start of last year, i just saw Dara's ex-BF, to be paired with the 'girl who cried wolf' from a murder case of 2011? Like he dated a slut. I was about to release my anger on them, but good thing, my mom didn't watch that as they guested on a morning talk show, because she knows that i'll end up being angry. But if the 2 finally returned to the local showbiz scene before this decade ends. Then so be it, i would rather watch the Gokaiger Goseiger 199 Hero Great Battle if they ended up being a love team. I would rather see Bouken Red's epic return. It's like back 2 years ago, many Super Sentai fans have waited for Mitsuomi Takahashi to return, bringing back the character he portrayed in Boukenger. Like there was a blue-colored feather landed in a copy of The Guidon.

Questing, questing, questing

Well, more like just a single "questing", since I am almost done finishing one quest. I did the map, the picture hunting, finished working on the 2 puzzles I wanted for the quest, and the intro to it as well. I still need to write some more dialogues, add a little hidden reward for those who put some effort into exploring, and decide whether I want a quest log entry or not (it's relatively short, so I feel like it would be a bit of a waste). This quest might need a little polish, but I want to wait for when I have a closed beta, so that I can hear the testers' opinion, before messing with it (one of the puzzles is ridiculously easy right now, but it helps me distract the players a little, which is nice for a certain thing I want there). And this is pretty much everything I did with the game this week, nothing much to report. I wasted a bit too much time on the puzzles, because I kept making a dumb mistake, which sent me on a goose chase, but thankfully I realized what I was doing wrong, and once I fixed it, everything worked as a charm. The graphical side for the puzzles is a bit rough as well, but it fits with the setting of the quest, so it should be okay (and I can always change it after the testing).



As usual, once that the pesky formalities are out of the way we can talk about our common passion: intros to anime I like! This week, I'll talk to you about Cat's eye! *cue the intro*

This two night performance was held at the Saint Sebastian Parish School, where over 40 students from the Parish s Drama Club worked on the production. Student Leaders Greg Klamert, who played the lead role of Aladdin, and Joey Berger, who played the role of Jaffar s guard, did an excellent job exemplifying their leadership skills and community involvement. It's about time!

The damned photo-shoot event is done! That took WAY too long. I have a few extranet entries to add/update, but thankfully the scene itself is complete. It's short but there are enough variations to keep people busy for a while. Also, it has some sweet rewards (depending on your choices! ;P), so it should make people happy (one of the possible rewards is the recovery of 1 mental resistance point! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!).



Now it should be time for another side-quest, probably something from Hamlin (although I am not 100% sure yet, I might change my mind at the last minute), something that shouldn't take too long (fingers crossed), and maybe the occasion to try some puzzles I wanted to test for a while.

A Cathartic Review of Faith

Dear Readers, today, I present you with a special kind of Guest Post ... FAITH, HOW DID YOU DISAPPOINT ME?LET ME COUNT THE WAYS...I'm not savvy enough to pinpoint exactly where this series went awry -- whether it was the writing, the directing, the editing, the acting, or some lethal combination of the above - but it was, without a doubt, a series that I should have loved, but didn't.

Because this Last Tycoon covers a period of more than thirty-five years, the character is played by two actors. Xiaoming Huang (The Banquet, Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster, The Guillotines) portrays Daqi as a youth, while Chow Yun-Fat (who needs no introduction) serves as the older, middle-aged version.

My Top 5 Favorite Manga

Recently I have told you about my favorite anime series and now I would to tell you about my favorite manga. You see, the anime series are usually meant for a wider audience, so many-many times they actually change the story arc of the characters to make it kid-friendly. There are several that I grew up on and then later found out that the manga is about twenty times harsher and sadder - but at the same time also more compelling. It's like they gave me an adult story with the characters I grew up with and it simple added a little extra to it. Season two picks up where the last volume of Angel Heart left off and Xiang-Ying continues her job as City Hunter, saving beautiful women from killers, criminals and others. Hojo has a gift for making stories that are simultaneously funny, emotional and as exciting as any Hollywood action flick. Can't wait for more.

Otakon 2013: 10-minutes with Yuzuru Tachikawa and Michihiko Suwa

There was a special presentation at Otakon 2013 about the young animator and director project called Anime Mirai with producer Michihiko Suwa and director of the Death Billiards short Yuzuru Tachikawa. Over the weekend all of the shorts were shown in 3-parts divided up by year.



At this point, most people have probably seen Little Which Academia but may not know it was funded through the Anime Mirai initiative. Many more probably hadn't seen Death Billiards until Otakon's weekend. Once you have seen it however, it is impossible to forget. Many are looking forward to what Mr. Tachikawa will do next.

This year's Otakon was its 20th anniversary, and as expected of the staff they brought out the big guns, with names such as Watanabe Shinichirou, Kanno Yohko, and Seki Tomokazu. As with every year, one of the biggest strengths and weaknesses of Otakon is that there's too much to do, and it leaves me feeling both satisfied and a bit disappointed.

What's been my biggest obsession since my last pregnancy...wow almost two years?It's been Korean drama.Why?An awesome blend of romance, drama, comedy, action, suspence, thrill and sometimes supernatural thrown in with great acting, writing and chemistry.Now I wont say every drama is awesome (there are some duds) but I have found a lot of shows that have made me want to sit in front of my comp all day marathoning.And after finally giving into dramafever.com I can watch shows the week they come out there, so I actally have a show to anticipate.I haven't had the feeling of anticipation like that since I discovered "Doctor Who" (proud Whovian ^^).If you want to give any of these shows a try check out "Boys Over Flowers", "My Princess", "Coffee Prince", City Hunter", "Faith", "Protect The Boss", "I Hear Your Voice", "Dream High", and the ever popular and almost at an end "You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin".The last one has had me in my seat each day it's updated and has a large following.Right now a new up and comer, "The Master's Sun" is gaining fans internationally too.If you like suspence, romance, drama and comedy mixed in with many interruptions by ghastly looking ghosts then this maybe one for you.Must admit it did start a bit slow but it left an impression on me that I had to see what happened next.I was not disappointed with the following episodes.

How did I get into K-drama?It was a combination of my cousins, "Doctor Who" and Deondre.My cousins had been bugging me about shows they had been watching on dramafever.I would kinda go "Eh", but in the long run dismissed them.Then one day Deondre suggested that I'd watch an anime called "Nana" which is based off of a manga.I fell in love with the series, characters, writing, roller coaster of emotions, twists and turns in the plot and character development that when it was over I started looking for something else similar.That's where netflix came in.According to them if I liked "Nana" and "Doctor Who" then I would love the Korean show "My Princess".Now...what connection "My Princess" had with a time traveling alien with a Brittish accent and a sonic screwdriver I had no idea.But it was my gateway.

A few of these shows are actually adaptations from mangas.The ever popular "Boys Over Flowers" started out as a Japanese manga and then went into production to become a tv show.This show was followed by a Taiwanese version and then the most popular one the Korean version (starring the oh so cute Lee Min Ho).There is also more recently a Chinese version that has popped up.And last I read there is an American version in talks (I'm cringing hoping we don't shame what's already so awesome).And speaking of adaptations you should check out "Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo".This show also started as a manga, turned into a series and then was adapted for Taiwanese and Korean."Mischievous Kiss" is a redoing of the 1996 Japanese original.It's really cute and has an awesome rain scene.

About lists

There's a forum I'm in that was discussing someone's top 10 anime list. I've seen a lot and it's quite difficult to narrow the expansive library of what I've seen down to 10 titles. There's a lot of good out there, and a lot of not so good. Like any list, things will get left out that you'll want to include. It's almost inevitable.



So instead of doing a total top 10 list, I'll be doing top lists by genre. I won't limit to a specific number since some things just don't need to be listed and others probably need some attention. Within the lists are no specific order since it's just really hard to pick one over another because they might have a general theme related, but not necessarily the same overall feel.

Right Stuf President and CEO Shawne Kleckner revealed new anime licenses for both Nozomi and Lucky Penny Entertainment. CAT'S EYE was the newest title announced to receive the special Nozomi Entertainment limited-edition treatment. Nozomi also provided new details about its current video and print projects, including the upcoming limited-edition releases of PRINCESS KNIGHT and SPACE ADVENTURE COBRA.
